Preity Zinta was born on the 31st of January 1975 in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. She lost her father, Durganand Zinta, an Indian Army officer, at the young age of thirteen in a car accident. Her mother, Nilbraha Zinta, was also badly injured in this accident.
Career
She has acted in Hindi films, as well as Punjabi, Telugu, and English language films. In 1998, Preity made her acting debut with Dil. She played a role in the movie Soldier the following year. These performances brought her a Filmfare Award. She later became famous for her role as a single teenage mom in Kya Kehna in 2000. Thus she built a career with a variety of character plays.
In 2003, Preeti won a Filmfare Award for Best Actress for her romantic drama performance of Kal Ho Na Ho. Preity Zinta went on to play the leading female role in two consecutive annual films, the science fiction film Koi Mil Gaya, her biggest market success, and the romantic film Veer-Zaara in 2004.
